Tech Stewardship

Emerging technologies are finding their way into our daily lives at breakneck speed. I will ensure Nebraskans have a say in how this technology is used.

Both infrastructure creation and societal implications of artificial intelligence (LLMs) must be guided by the people. No one wants to be surveilled, subjected to cybercrime, unable to discern real media from generated media, or have no control over nor understanding of technologies rapidly finding their way into every facet of our lives, including government and business.

I am fiercely committed to ensuring Nebraskans are not subjected to abuse by large tech companies—whether that’s finding ways to keep unwanted AI infrastructure out of communities, heavily regulating the use of deep-fakes, or making sure our data is safe from being used in ways we didn’t consent to.

While advancements in AI can create new opportunities, we must be extremely cautious with how we implement this technology.

Environment

The Sandhills are one of the few remaining mostly intact grasslands. They are a treasure, and we must be proactive in choosing the future we want for our beautiful, unique ecoregion.

These sensitive hills face numerous challenges in the 21st century, including drought, land development, invasive Eastern Red Cedar, and uncontrollable wildfires.

Due to increased demand for energy, largely from growth in AI, these precious hills are under threat of being developed for the infrastructure demanded. I will ensure Sandhillers have the support they need to keep their unique home safe from big industry.

To promote prairie health, I will work with local stewards to help find solutions and provide resources to keep a balance between productivity and deep care for the land. We cannot let one of the last intact grasslands spoil.

Healthcare

Nearly everyone will need healthcare at some point. Some populations are more likely to need support, such as the elderly and post-partum mothers.

We must ensure everyone in our state has the opportunity to access affordable, accessible, and effective healthcare. Traveling to receive care in rural Nebraska can be a challenge, and I will work to find a solution—whether that’s increasing the ability of our small towns to offer local options, or finding practical ways to help transport those in need.

Additionally, it’s imperative that Nebraskans have access to all forms of healthcare—including mental, vision, and dental. I will find ways to help every Nebraskan receive the care they deserve to thrive.

Education

Education is the backbone of a health society—it’s what allows our minds to blossom and find solutions for our communities.

Every child deserves the opportunity to receive an education. I will make sure rural public schools have the resources they need to continue forming well-rounded citizens.

In an ever changing world, our children need more guidance now than ever. The basics are imperative: language, math, science, and history are all vital for helping students understand the world around them. Additionally, we must ascertain they have the many skills they will need to navigate society, which now includes the ability to decipher what’s genuine and what’s not.

Infrastructure

It’s important that rural Nebraskans are not left behind, while also ensuring we maintain our way of life we’ve treasured for generations. We value having safe roadways and bridges.

Large infrastructure projects should have robust public support, and should be transparent about their motives. -ensuring our rural communities are not being treated unfairly.

Press Freedom

While many local newspapers have phased out in the past few decades, we continue to have great outlets in the Sandhills. I want to ensure all Nebraskans can find community solutions for providing trustworthy news.
